After getting absolutely smoked by the Anaheim Ducks during the first period Thursday night, the Avalanche actually put together a decent road trip. Unfortunately for the Avalanche, despite better play, the results were much the same. In a season where everything seems to go wrong, small mistakes at the wrong time almost always end up in the back of the net, and it was plays like that that put the last two games in the other team's win column.
The Avs get another shot at the Sharks Monday night when they take them on at home. We'll see if recent trends are signs of things to come or just a mirage in what is a deserted season.
