Game 39 Preview: Islanders @ Avalanche

The Avs (12-25-1) return home and look to end their ten game home losing streak against the New York Islanders (15-15-6).

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

20 of 23, that's how many games the Avalanche have loss. Ten of those losses took place at home, where the Avs will return Friday night. The Avs have surrendered six goals in each of their last three home games, and they will face an Islanders team that is looking to turn around their season.

Like the Avalanche, the Islanders have had a disappointing season. After nearly a week off, the Islanders will be looking to continue 2017 in just the way they finished 2016; winners of four of five. With two streaks working against their favor, the Avs will look to start the Islanders 2017 on a low note.

NOTES

- After passing over Ty Rattie on Wednesday, the Avs claimed Matt Nieto off waivers from San Jose on Thursday.

- Speaking of waivers, Islanders star goaltender, Jaroslav Halak went unclaimed earlier this month and is currently playing in the minors.

- The newest addition to songs that should be the Avs' next goal song is actually pretty decent...
