The Eagles were able to snap a three-game losing streak tonight as they were able to defeat the Orlando Solar Bears with a final score of 5-2.
Prior to tonight's game, news came out that Eagles goaltender Nathan Lieuwen has been recalled up to the San Antonio Rampage. Lieuwen has a combined record of 6-2-1-1 for the Colorado Eagles, registering a 3.48 goals against average and a .882 save percentage with the Eagles.
Matt Garbowsky would get things rolling for the Eagles in the first period with a slap shot from the slot to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. Following the goal by Garbowsky, The Eagles would go on the powerplay where Shawn St. Amant would get a goal of his own to give the Eagles the 2-0 lead to close out the first period.
The Solar Bears would get a goal of their own, to cut into the Eagles two goal lead. However, the Eagles would strike back with a goal of their own to regain the two goal lead over the Solar Bears with a powerplay goal coming off the stick of Jesse Mychan to close out the middle frame.
Matt Garbowsky would get things started for the Eagles once again in the third period, as he would get his second of the night to give the Eagles the 4-1 lead of the night. Shortly after, the Solar Bears would get a goal of their own to cut the deficit back down to two goals.
Garbowsky would close things out by capitalizing on the Solar Bears empty net, and completing his hat trick for the night to give the Eagles the 5-2 victory.
The Eagles will play the Solar Bears one last time tomorrow afternoon at the Budweiser Events Center, with puckdrop scheduled for 3:05pm.
