Well...he’s dead, Jim.
Nothing of note happened in regards to the Avs yesterday. After coming down from an exciting victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, the Avs will have another trio of days off before taking on the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, then a back-to-back on the east coast. The boys will have another 4 days off after that before heading off to Sweden to play a back-to-back against the Ottawa Senators in the SAP NHL Global Series.
From the numbers: it looks like Jared Bednar might be making the right decision by sitting Zadorov in the press box. At the very least, we know Z should be kept away from Erik Johnson because he does nothing but hinder EJ’s game.
Around the League
The Winnipeg Jets beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-1 yesterday after scoring 5 in the first period, three of them within 34 seconds of each other and one 10 seconds after Casey DeSmith made his NHL debut to relieve Matt Murray to finish Blake Wheeler’s hat trick. I had Murray on my fantasy team. Please.
Vadim Shipchyov has officially been suspended by the Vegas Golden Knights after failing to report to Vegas’s AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. This comes after being sent down, called up, and sent down again. Rumor has it that if he is not traded as early as today, a return to Russia could be negotiated.
Expectation is that if Shipachyov isn’t traded by as early as tomorrow, contract termination/a return to Russia could happen in short order. https://t.co/emLBWAqHNA— Eric Engels (@EricEngels) October 29, 2017
The NHL could be coming to Houston for its expansion to 32 teams, throwing a wrench into any plays Seattle or Quebec City might have to do the same. [CBSSports]
Griffin Reinhart from VGK and Louis Domingue of the Arizona Coyotes were put on waivers yesterday. Domingue minded the net in 7 of the Coyotes historic 11 straight losses to start the season. He posted a 4.33 GGA and a .856 save %. [Twitter]
