Last week was a great week for Avalanche prospects when we just look at points. Conor Timmins set up four goals for his Grey Hounds teammates, Nick Henry knocked in four points of his own, Ty Lewis had five points, Nicky Leivermann had four more, and Denis Smirnov had five in the college ranks.
Conor Timmins and Cale Makar now head to Team Canada camp, hoping to make the cut to play in the World Junior Championships after Christmas. They’ll be in camp from the 12th to 15th, playing two games against the Canadian university all-stars and one against Denmark before hitting the road for pre-tournament games against the Czech Republic and Switzerland.

#21 - Conor Timmins (D) - 0G, 4A, +1
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds - 26-3-2-0
Dec. 6th: vs Sarnia Sting
W 6-3 - 0G, 2A, +1
Dec. 8th: vs North Bay Battalion
W 3-1 - 0G, 0A, +1
Dec. 10th: vs Windsor Spitfires
W 6-2 - 0G, 2A, -1
Timmins played well in his final games with the Greyhounds until January. Hopefully his departure doesn’t hurt them too much.
#19 - Travis Barron (F) - 1G, 0A, -1
Ottawa 67’s - 14-15-1-2
Dec. 8th: @ Oshawa Generals
L 5-3 - 1G, 0A, -2
Dec. 9th: vs Niagara IceDogs
L 3-0 - 0G, 0A, -1
Dec. 10th: vs Sudbury Wolves
L 4-3 SO - 0G, 0A, +2
Barron didn’t impress much last week, but the 67’s are in a bit of a downward spiral.
Western Hockey League
#21 - Nick Henry (D) - 2G, 2A, +2
Regina Pats - 16-14-2-0
Dec. 6th: @ Brandon Wheat Kings
L 7-4 - 0G, 2A
Dec. 8th: vs Kelowna Rockets
L 7-5 - 2G, 0A, +1
Dec. 9th: vs Medicine Hat Tigers
W 4-2 - 0G, 0A, +1
A week of two’s for Henry, he played a good defensive game in the Pats lone win, and at least had some good offensive contributions in the other games.
#28 - Josh Anderson (D)
Prince George Cougars - 11-14-3-2
Dec. 5th: vs Kootenay Ice
W 3-1 - 0G, 0A, +1
Dec. 10th: vs Victoria Royals
L 5-4 - 0G, 0A, -1
Anderson isn’t a big scorer and that’s certainly not what we’ve been seeing.
#14 - Ty Lewis (F) - 3G, 2A, +1
Brandon Wheat Kings - 22-7-0-1
Dec. 6th: vs Regina Pats
W 7-4 - 1G, 0A
Dec. 8th: vs Medicine Hat Tigers
W 4-3 OT - 0G, 1A
Dec. 9th: vs Kelowna Rockets
W 7-4 - 2G, 1A, +1
Five points in three games seems to be the standard these days for Lewis. Hopefully, the scout who pushed for him to be signed got a nice bonus.
BCHL
#4 - Nick Leivermann (D) - 0G, 4A
Penticton Vees - 22-6-1-2
Dec. 6th: vs Salmon Arm Silverbacks
W 5-1 - 0G, 3A
Dec. 8th: vs West Kelowna Warriors
W 5-2 - 0G, 1A
Dec. 9th: @ Vernon Vipers
L 4-0 - No Points
The Vees suffered a rare loss to end the week, they’re missing a few players who are representing Canada at the World Junior ‘A’ challenge in Nova Scotia this week.
USHL
#5 - Nathan Clurman (D)
Tri-City Storm - 15-5-0-0
Dec. 7th: @ Lincoln Stars
W 1-0 - No Points
Dec. 8th:vs Omaha Lancers
L 3-1 - No Points
Clurman played defence well in the Storm’s shutout of the Stars, but the team could use a scoring boost - they scored just two goals this weekend.
NCAA

UMass-Amherst Minutemen
Overall: 9-7 / Conference: 3-4
Dec. 10th: @ Union

Morrison helped with the scoring surge that the Fighting Irish had against Wisconsin on Saturday, assisting on the first and fifth goals of the game.
#15 - Shane Bowers - 0G, 1A, +1
Boston University Terriers
Overall: 8-10-1 / Conference: 6-6-1
Dec. 8th: @ UMass-Lowell
L 3-2 - No Points
Dec. 9th: @ UMass-Lowell

Bowers is still just one points before Morrison on the scoring chart, he’ll need a big offensive boost next game to catch up.
