The NCAA summarized his weekend:

The sophomore forward from Moscow, Russia had a big weekend for Penn State as they increased their unbeaten streak to eight games after a sweep of Robert Morris. On Friday, he had a goal in a 5-2 win against the Colonials at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. On Saturday, he tallied four points on two goals and two assists in a 7-4 victory at home. For the weekend, Smirnov totaled five points on three goals and two assists, while also adding 10 shots on goal and a +3 rating.
