Voting for the 2018 NHL All-Star Game opened two weeks ago. Yesterday the league released a list of the top vote-getters thus far and unfortunately, Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon is nowhere to be seen.
Central Division
P.K. Subban, NSH – 13.60%
Vladimir Tarasenko, STL – 11.59%
Patrick Kane, CHI – 10.24%
Mark Scheifele, WPG – 7.02%
Tyler Seguin, DAL – 6.87%
That is a decent group, but Mackinnon has been as good or better than all five of these players so far this year. He is having a breakout season. His 33 points in 30 games are good enough for 15th in league scoring - tied with Mark Scheifele for best in the central.
Avalanche fans haven’t had a ton to cheer about over the past few years, so it would be great if we can get behind Mack and get his vote total up. He will certainly be Colorado’s representative at the game - that’s not in doubt - but it would be great to see him as the team captain as well.
Voting is open until January 1st and each fan is allowed to submit up to 10 votes. We encourage all Avalanche fans to start voting, let’s get Nathan MacKinnon the recognition he deserves.
The 2018 All-Star Weekend is in Tampa Bay on Jan. 27-28.
