Colorado Avalanche prospect report: Everyone has an eye on Christmas vacation

It was a dull week for the prospects as we head towards the Christmas break.

It wasn’t a great week for highlights. With Timmins at Team Canada camp, and the NCAA off until January it was up to a couple kids to provide the fun and...meh. Hopefully things kick up a notch later.

Ontario Hockey League

#21 - Conor Timmins (D)
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Timmins is at Team Canada Selection Camp, and made the team!

#19 - Travis Barron (F) - 0G, 2A, -2
Ottawa 67’s

Dec. 14th: @ Peterborough Petes
W 5-2 - 0G, 2A, -1

Dec. 17th: vs Gatineau Olympiques
L 4-1 - 0G, 0A, -1

The 67’s held an inter-league outdoor game against the QMJHL Gatineau Olympiques, but things didn’t go as well as they went for the NHL club. The Olympiques out played the 67’s for the entire game and took a 4-1 victory.

Western Hockey League

#21 - Nick Henry (D) - 0G, 0A, -2
Regina Pats - 16-17-3-0

Dec. 13th: vs Kamloops Blazers
L 3-0 - 0G, 0A, -1
Dec. 15th: vs Saskatoon Blades
L 4-3 - 0G, 0A, -1
Dec. 16th: vs Lethbridge Hurricanes
L 6-2 - 0G, 1A, +1
Dec. 17th: @ Saskatoon Blades
L 3-2 - 0G, 1A, -1

The Pats lost four games last week, and Henry went pointless. The Memorial Cup hosts are missing some big names to Team Canada camp but can’t be losing like this if they want to be in good standing ahead of the playoffs.

#28 - Josh Anderson (D) - 0G, 1A
Prince George Cougars - 12-17-3-2

Dec. 12th: vs Victoria Royals
W 5-4 - 0G, 1A, +2
Dec. 15th: @ Seattle Thunderbirds
L 5-3 0G, 0A, -1
Dec. 16th: @ Everett Silvertips
L 4-0 - 0G, 0A, -1
Dec. 17th: @ Vancouver Giants
L 2-0 - No Points

The Cougars didn’t fare much better than the Pats last week, getting shutout in back to back games.

#14 - Ty Lewis (F) - 0G, 1A, -1
Brandon Wheat Kings

Dec. 12th: vs Kamloops Blazers
W 3-2 - No Points
Dec. 15th: vs Lethbridge Hurricanes
W 3-0 - 0G, 0A, +1
Dec. 16th: @ Moose Jaw Warriors
L 7-4 - 0G, 1A, -2

Lewis wasn’t running the offense this week for the Wheat Kings, but they still won 2/3, but the loss to the Warriors was a pretty big one.

Junior A

#4 - Nick Leivermann (D) - No Points
Penticton Vees, BCHL - 22-7-2-2

Dec. 15th: vs West Kelowna Warriors
L 3-2 OT - No Points
Dec. 16th: @ Nanimo Clippers
L 4-2 - No Points

The Vees were not Victorious last week, dropping back to back games for the first time this season.

#5 - Nathan Clurman (D) - 0G, 0A, +1
Tri-City Storm

Dec. 15th: vs Dubuque Fighting Saints
L 4-2 - 0G, 0A, +1
Dec. 16th: vs Dubuque Fighting Saints
W 1-0 - No Points

Clurman played a good defensive game in a weekend where the Storm weren’t in an offensive state of mind.

#16 - Cale Makar (D)
UMass-Amherst Minutemen

UMass-Amherst is on break until January 5th.

#25 - Denis Smirnov (F)
Penn State Lions

Penn State is on break until January 5th.

#26 - Cameron Morrison (F)
Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame is on break until January 5th.

#15 - Shane Bowers
