The NCHC Frozen Faceoff tournament schedules have finally been all set up, and we will not have to wait any longer as both Avs prospects Will Butcher and Tyson Jost are set to collide, as the Denver Pioneers will take on the University of North Dakota this coming Friday night.
For the Pioneers, the road to the Frozen Four was going through their in-state rivals, the Colorado College Tigers. In which the Pioneers easily swept the Tigers, winning their first game of the series on March 10th by a final score of 4-1. The Pioneers would then defeat the Tigers that very next day by shutting them out 4-0, to move onto the NCHC Frozen Faceoff tournament in Minnesota.
University of North Dakota would have a much more difficult task in front of them, as they would take on St. Cloud State. However, the Fighting Hawks would easily handle St. Cloud State in the first game of the series, winning with a final score of 5-2. The next day, St. Cloud State would be fighting for their lives, but the Fighting Hawks would ultimately defeat them by winning the game in overtime with the final score of 6-5 to punch their tickets into the NCHC Frozen Faceoff tournament.
The two long-time rivals are set to meet up this coming Friday night, with faceoff schedule for 6:30pm (Denver time), and will be televised on CBS Sports Network. The winner of the game will move onto the championship game, where they will face the winner of the Western Michigan-Minnesota Duluth game.
