Will Butcher Announced As Hobey Baker Award Finalist

Avs prospect Will Butcher has been nominated as one of the finalists to receive the Hobey Baker Award ahead of NCHC Frozen Faceoff

Looking ahead to DU’s game against the University of North Dakota in the semi-finals of the NCHC Frozen Faceoff, the Pioneers captain and Avs prospect Will Butcher has been named one of the finalists for the coveted Hobey Baker Award.

In his senior year for the Pioneers, Butcher has had his best season so far as he has been able to accumulate 35 points (6 goals, 29 assists) in 38 games for the team this season. This is the first time during his college hockey career that Butcher has been nominated as a finalist for the award.

The last Pioneer player to be nominated for this award was fellow Pioneer defenseman Joey LaLeggia in the 2015 Hobey Baker Award process, however the winner of the award would ultimately be the second overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Jack Eichel.

Voting for the top ten finalists will open up for the public on March 26th, 2017 at www.hobeybaker.com , and will last until March 26th. The Hobey Hat Trick (top three finalists) will be announced on March 30th, 2017, and the winner of the award will be announced on April 7, 2017.
