The Avs blew it again this weekend, dropping both games of their quick trip to Detroit and Chicago. But for Avs fans, the focus has been on the blown off-sides call that led to the Avs falling apart in the third period Sunday.
The Avs were putting together a solid outing against the Blackhawks, leading 3-1 going into the third. Then, just past the halfway point, Jonathan Toews scored to put the Hawks within a goal. Jared Bednar challenged the play as being off-sides and the video seemed to show that to be true, but the goal was upheld. Bednar and the Avalanche were obviously furious, and that fury allowed the Hawks to score two more goals in just over 30 seconds.
While the off-sides call was crucial, it didn't cost the Avalanche the game. The four goals that followed the bad call cost the Avalanche the game. All that bad call shows, is just how fragile this Avalanche team is right now. One bad call makes a two goal lead turn to a blowout loss.

NOTES
- With his eighth and ninth goals of the season, Mikhail Grigorenko now has a career high in goals in a season.
- With the loss on Sunday, the Avs have cemented their place in the basement of the Central division.
- In honor of the Avalanche's latest implosion, the next entry for Avalanche goal song is a song I can't believe hasn't been used for a goal song yet...
