Game 65 Preview: Hurricanes @ Avalanche

After yet another shutout loss, the Avalanche (17-44-3) continue a four-game home-stand against the Carolina Hurricanes (26-26-10).

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

It's windy in Denver. Maybe it's because the Hurricanes are coming to town, or maybe it's just because the Avalanche suck so much. For a team that has said it is relieved that the trade deadline has come and passed so they can just play hockey, they sure are playing hockey just like they were before the deadline or perhaps even worse. With only two goals in the last four games, the Avs' play can only go up. Maybe that play will improve as those winds blow some of the NHL's bottom-feeders Colorado-way. The Avs play teams in the NHL's bottom-six in five of the next six games. The Avs are still the worst, but can they knock off some teams closer to them in the standings?
