Team USA Hockey

After finishing the preliminary round with an undefeated 4-0 record, the Americans will be kicking off their quarterfinal play against Switzerland (1-3) on April 20th. Avs fans will want to watch this game carefully, as top prospect Nico Hischier will be representing Switzerland in this game against the Americans.

So far in the IIHF World Juniors, Hischier has been unable to find the back of the net. However, he has been able to accumulate five assists in four games. Switzerland is definitely not a powerhouse team such as the United States, but they will be looking at Hischier to help elevate the team to try to pull off the upset over the Americans.

The Americans have started off the tournament on a good note, winning all of their preliminary round games, including victories over Sweden, and Russia. For the United States, it is forward Sean Dhooghe leading the charge for the Americans, racking up six points in 4 games played.

Keeping Track of Canada

For the Canadians, they would have a good showing in the preliminary round. Unfortunately, Finland would have a better showing as they would finish preliminary play at the top of the table for Group A.

The man to watch for the Canadians, is the only Canadian appearing in the scoring leaders, and that is Stylianos Mattheos. Mattheos finished the preliminary round with four goals in four games played.

The Canadians will be opening up their quarterfinal play when they will have a tough contest against Team Sweden (2-2) on April 20th.
