After taking the 2-1 series lead this weekend, the Colorado Eagles will look to go up on a 3-1 series lead over the Idaho Steelheads, as they will play game 4 in Boise tonight. If the Eagles win tonight, they will be one win away from advancing to the second round.
In Game 3 of the series, it would be Eagles rookie forward Shawn St-Amant who would get things going for the Eagles, as he would find the back of the net midway throught he first period to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
Idaho would be able to score the equalizer on the man advantage as Steelheads forward Jefferson Dahl would blast a shot from the left circle that would be able to beat the Eagles goaltender Lukas Hafner.
Near the end of the opening period, the Eagles would find themselves once again on the penalty kill. However, a shorthanded effort would put the Eagles ahead 2-1, as Casey Pierro-Zabotel would tap the puck past the Steelheads goalie Landon Bow.
Early in the second period, the Eagles would extend their lead as forward Julien Nantel would wire a shot off of the rebound past the Steelheads goal to extend the Eagles lead to 3-1.
Shortly after the Eagles goal, the Steelheads would get goal of their own on the powerplay as forward Kellen Lain would snap a wrist shot from the right circle to cut the Eagles lead back down to one goal.
The Eagles would once again get a late period goal, as the Eagles would find themselves on the powerplay. Belzile would wire a one-timer from the left circle to the back of the net to give the Eagles the 4-2 lead before the end of the middle frame.
From there, the Eagles would be able to hold on for the 4-2 victory and take the 2-1 series lead.
