Happy Mothers Day! Grab some coffee & crullers and enjoy Team USA vs the Slovaks early then this afternoon Landy, Carl and the Swedes are favored against Denmark and Mikko and the troubled Finns take on the Swiss, who are fresh off beating Team Canada in OT. The NHL’s WC series goes this evening.

IIHF Worlds

10:15am ET - Team USA vs Slovakia on NHLN and the NBCSN App

2:15pm ET - Sweden vs Denmark

2:15pm ET - Finland vs Switzerland

The US needs a win to keep pace with Russia but they’re pretty close to locking down a spot in the Quarters, Sweden is close behind in 3rd for Group A. Finland’s tenuous hold on the final QF spot from Group B looks a lot better if they can win today, a loss makes an early exit a very real possibility.

Looking ahead to Monday, Canada plays in the morning vs Bad Andy/Norway and Russia is in the late set against Bob Hartley’s pleasant surprise team from Latvia.

7:30pm ET - Nashville at Anaheim on NBCSN, Preds lead 1-0

Nashville stole home ice away in game 1 overtime and look to build a 2 game lead heading home. Game 2 in the East is tomorrow night.

The beloved Eagles found their power play and scoring in general again last night against Toledo in a 4-3 win. Alex Belzile had a goal and an assist, now leads the ECHL with 21 points in 11 games. ECHL Defenseman of the Year Matt Register had a goal and assist and he now leads all Ds in the league with 14 points in 13 games (6th overall too!). Julien Nantel added a goal/assist of his own and now is 3rd on the team in goals with 5 and tied for 4th in points with 8.

The Eagles are heading back to Colorado for games in Loveland on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. Great seats are still available, I highly recommend heading up there if you have the means to do so. Series is at 1-1 so all three are guaranteed to be played.
