First Chunks of Avalanche 17-18 Schedule Announced

Expect the Avs to play a good number of teams from the East early in the season.

The entire NHL schedule for the 2017-18 season will be announced on Thursday. Home openers were announced earlier today, however, to build excitement for the full reveal.

Colorado's home opener will be Wednesday, October 11th against the Boston Bruins. Before that date, it's clear the Avs will be on the east coast for at least two games. Colorado's first presumed game will be Thursday, October 5th in the Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers. They'll also be in New Jersey, for the Devils' home opener, on Saturday, October 7th.

A two-game east coast road trip is fairly uncommon for the Avs, so expect a third game to be played during that early road swing on either the 8th or 9th. Nonetheless, Colorado taking a trip to several teams along the Atlantic Ocean in October is nothing new, as this has become a tradition of sorts for the team. We'll see tomorrow when the other 79 games will take place.
