Morning Flurries: Duchene breaks his silence, Avalanche make first cuts, and Joe Sakic reflects on last season

The Avalanche cut 5 players from training camp today. Hugo Roy, Ben Storm, and others will pack their bags and head home. [MHH]

Matt Duchene broke the silent treatment he has been giving the media at camp today. He says that “a lot got blown out of proportion” and when asked what will happen if a trade does not pan out, he said he is “just going to take things one day at a time.” [BSNDenver]

The Pepsi Center has received brand new LED lighting this offseason. The new system should save as much as half of the amount of energy used by the system before it. [NHL dot com]

General Manager Joe Sakic says that he has learned from his mistakes, such as wrongfully giving older players such as Jerome Iginla and Francois Beauchemin so much ice when there were younger, hungrier players ready to take those positions. We’re getting there folks. [BSNDenver]
