Morning Flurries: Avs host Stars, new Eagles jerseys and insiders know nothing

The Avs take the ice tonight looking for their first preseason win against the Dallas Stars. Puck drops at 7:00 at the Pepsi Center. Altitude isn’t carrying this one, so we’ll have to rely on the whispers of our little birds on Twitter to keep us up to date. If you’ll be at the game, live tweeting is greatly appreciated. It’ll be interesting to see if anybody wants to have a pleasant conversation with Antoine Roussel between the whistles tonight. I hear he loves idle chit chat.

Win or lose, it’s probably best to take preseason results with a grain of salt. [MHH]

The Colorado Eagles unveiled their new uniforms for the upcoming season.

Not bad, but I was also a fan of the Houston Astros rainbow jersey, so take that for what it’s worth.

It appears the ‘insiders’ in the media have no idea where Matt Duchene is going to be playing this season. They keep saying he’ll be traded soon but name as many as eight destinations. Throw enough guesses at a wall and eventually something has to stick...[TSN]

Around the hockey world

Erik Cole has announced his retirement from hockey after signing a one-day contract with Carolina to officially end his career as a Hurricane. [SN]

In addition to increased focus on faceoff violations (of which we saw plenty in the Avs’ first preseason game) and slashing, referees are cracking down on tilted visors. [SN]

Speaking of slashing, Ovi seems to be struggling with the increased focus on stick work.
