18-year-old Eden Praire, Minnesota native Dayton Rasmussen is headed for the NCAA this year.
He’ll hopefully make his debut as a goaltender for the University of Denver this fall, skating out after a 38-game USHL season split between the Tri-City Storm and the Chicago Steel.
The freshman netminder should bring plenty of talent between the pipes. His mask, though, will be just as exciting to see.
“New helmet for the year #DU”, he tweeted, with four pictures of the freshly-painted lid.

The Vaughn mask is new, as Rasmussen donned a CCM lid during his time in the USHL. The design, though, has plenty of familiar symbols across its surface.
This year, the American won’t feature his nickname on his chin, but the ‘Ras’ still makes an appearance - this time on his backplate.
He’s also a big fan of going all-in on a team-themed mask, and this one is no different.
His Tri-City masks were a whirlwind of purple and silver paint, with the team’s logo splashed across the various designs on both the sides and the top.
This one is all crimson and gold, with three various DU logos and a rocky mountain theme to the entire piece. From the snow-capped mountains to the icy flakes falling across the chin, it’s a piece that perfectly encapsulates the Denver atmosphere.
