With the 2017-18 NHL season fast approaching, a quick primer on what milestones current Avalanche players are approaching seemed appropriate. Let’s get right into it.

The Big Ones

Semyon Varlamov - 20,000 minutes played (currently at 19,971 minutes)

Barring injury, Varly should reach this by the end of the season opener. Another goalie reaching this milestone is former Av, Peter Budaj.

The Small Ones

Joe Colborne - 300 games played (currently at 295 games)

Nail Yakupov - 300 games played (currently at 292 games)

Mark Barberio - 200 games played (currently at 193 games)

Colin Wilson - 100 goals (currently at 95 goals)

Tyson Barrie - 200 points (currently at 191 points)

Of these milestones, Barrie’s is far and away the most impressive. In the time frame from his first game to now, Barrie ranks in the top 20 of all NHL d-men in points. To put his oft-underappreciated play into perspective, he has a higher points-per-game during this period than Drew Doughty, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Ryan Suter, to name a few.
