They had a week off, but the Colorado Avalanche just keep rolling. Last night they went into Dallas and won their sixth straight game, beating the Stars 4-1. Nathan MacKinnon got the game-winning goal (because who else?) and Jonathan Bernier made 27 saves to hold his team in the game. It was a fun one and we have a complete recap for you here.
We’ve known it for a while now, but people in other markets are finally starting to figure out just how good Nathan MacKinnon has been. He has been one of the best players in the NHL so far this season and has turned himself into a legitimate Hart Trophy candidate. [4th Line Podcast]
Over in the WHL, Avalanche prospect, Ty Lewis notched his 25th goal of the season in a 4-3 loss for his Brandon Wheat Kings. Lewis has been destroying the WHL this season. He now has 68 points in 42 games and has been nothing but spectacular since signing as an undrafted free agent this past summer.
Why do we love Yak? Let me count the ways.

And away from the ice, one of our own is doing something pretty impressive today. MHH, The Athletic and inGoal Magazine writer Cat Silverman is running a half marathon this morning (after running a 5k yesterday).
Not only is she going to be trecking through 13.1 miles, she's doing it only 16 months after giving birth to her wonderful daughter Izzy. She’s a badass and always seems to find new ways to impress her friends and family.
Good luck and kick some butt Cat!
