What a week! Two prospects have been traded, so let’s start with that.

Defender Josh Anderson has been traded in the WHL from the Prince George Cougars to the Swift Current Broncos. Swift Current sent 2018 and 2019 first round picks to Prince George to get the big defensive defender to help their Memorial Cup dreams.

In the USHL, Nathan Clurman was traded from the Tri-City Storm to the Des Moines Buccaneers along with Wyllum Deveaux and 2018 Phase 2 7th Round Pick to for Sam Hentges.

In injury news OHL Greyhounds Conor Timmins is off for a week or two with a lower body injury, and in the BCHL Penticton Vees defender Nicky Leivermann is out almost a month recovering from minor surgery.

Ontario Hockey League

#21 - Conor Timmins (D) - 0G, 1A
Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds - 37-3-2-1

Jan. 10th: vs Saginaw Spirit
W 3-1 - 0G, 1A
Jan. 12th: vs Owen Sound Attack
W 5-2 - Did Not Play
Jan. 13th: vs Mississauga Steelheads
W 7-4 - Did Not Play

Timmins left the Saginaw game with an apparent lower body injury, described as ‘week to week’. He’s missed a couple games already, hopefully it’s nothing serious.

#19 - Travis Barron (F) - 1G, 1A, -1
Ottawa 67’s - 17-20-3-2

Jan. 12th: @ Gatineau Olympiques
W 5-0 - No Points
Jan. 13th: @ Peterborough Petes
L 6-2 - 0G, 0A, -1
Jan. 14th: vs Guelph Storm
L 5-4 OT - 1G, 1A, +2

Barron broke out of his shell in the final game of the week, but the 67’s couldn’t get past the Storm with a win.

Western Hockey League

#21 - Nick Henry (D) - 0G, 2A
Regina Pats - 23-19-4-0

Jan. 10th: vs Edmonton Oil Kings
L 4-3 OT - 0G, 0A, -3
Jan. 12th: vs Medicine Hat Tigers
W 3-1 - 0G, 1A
Jan. 13th: vs Calgary Hitmen
W 8-2 - 0G, 1A, +3

The Pats have picked up lately, which is good as they’ll need a strong showing in the second half to climb the playoff ladder. Henry chipping in on a couple goals helped him personally on the stat sheet.

#3 - Josh Anderson (D) - 0G, 1A, +2
Swift Current Broncos - 31-10-3-0

Jan. 12th: @ Prince Albert Raiders
W 4-0 - 0G, 1A, +1
Jan. 13th: vs Edmonton Oil Kings
W 9-1 - 0G, 0A, +1

Anderson was traded to the Swift Current Broncos at the WHL trade deadline and jumped right into the thick of things with his new team. His post-season future is a lot brighter as the Broncos are almost guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, where the Cougars were a long ways out.

#14 - Ty Lewis (F) - 2G, 0A, +1
Brandon Wheat Kings - 28-12-2-1

Jan. 9th: vs Edmonton Oil Kings
L 3-2 OT - 1G, 0A
Jan. 12th: vs Calgary Hitmen
W 4-1 - No Points
Jan. 13th: Medicine Hat Tigers
L 4-3 OT - 1G, 0A, +1

Less than a point per game? Lewis, man, you’re slowing down. It was a tough week for the Wheat Kings, but they got 4 out of 6 points.

Junior A

#4 - Nick Leivermann (D) - Injured
Penticton Vees, BCHL - 26-9-2-3

Jan. 12th: vs Trail Smoke Eaters
T 2-2 - Did Not Play
Jan. 13th: @ Chiliwack Chiefs
W 6-2 - Did Not Play

Leivermann has had surgery and will be out for the next 3-4 weeks.

Des Moines Buccaneers

Jan. 12th: @ Tri-City Storm
L 3-1 - 0G, 1A, +1
Jan. 13th: @ Tr-City Storm
W 2-1 OT - No Points

The day before the Storm were to host the Buccaneers, Clurman was traded off the Storm and to the Buccaneers. He didn’t have to travel farther than down the hall for this first game against his former team.
