Avalanche prospect Justus Annunen breaks Finnish shutout record

The 2018 3rd round pick has been incredible this season

2018 Under-18 Five Nations Tournament - Finland v Sweden

Colorado Avalanche prospect Justus Annunen has broken the record for the longest shutout streak in Liiga history. The 19-year old Kärpät goalie broke the record in the first period of Wednesday’s game when his streak pushed past 259 minutes and 28 seconds. The previous record, set by Kimmo Lecklin back in the 1997-98 season.

Annunen, was the third round pick for Colorado back in the 2018 NHL Draft. He has been incredible this season playing behind a very strong team. Going into today’s game, he was working with a 0.85 GAA and .964 save percentage in seven games.

After a rocky season last year, Annunen looks to be turning into one of the best goaltending prospects the Avalanche have had in a long time.

Colorado already has one of the best young teams in the NHL and with Bo Byram, Alex Newhook and Annunen leading the way, they have one of the deepest prospect pools as well.

And the streak has come to an end at 302:05. What a run.
