After Wednesdays brief Instagram outage, it was a relief to be able to get back on the app yesterday and post a patriotic selfie. There are only a few American players on the Colorado Avalanche active roster, but it didn’t stop them from sharing their American pride online. (Also, happy belated Canada Day to all the Canadians out there)
J.T. Compher
This wasn’t from yesterday, but as of July 2, Compher and his whole family were vacationing in Hawaii. He started his three picture post with a wholesome family shot, and ended it with a photo of himself and his dad playing golf. The caption, “Family time” tells us that he was having a good time catching up whit his immediate family after a long NHL season.
Matt Nieto
Nieto isn’t on social media so there isn’t much to say how how he spent his Fourth of July. There hasn’t been any news that the Long Beach, CA native was impacted by the earthquakes in Southern California yesterday, so we’ll take that as good news,
Colin Wilson
Mr. Wilson has not posted anything on social media since April 20, when he put up a picture of himself with Nathan MacKinnon after the Avs won their first round playoff series against the Calgary Flames. Perhaps someone forgot to tell him that the app was working again.
Ian Cole
Cole surprised us with a gem from his younger days on Team USA. The clean shaven youngster was proudly representing USA back then and took the time to remind everyone how much he loves hockey and the USA. Props to him for combining a celebratory post and a Throwback Thursday into one.
Erik Johnson
It wasn’t exactly a July 4 post, but yesterday Johnson posted a TBT of himself and Tyson Barrie grilling as a farewell to Barrie who is now with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Since everyone was also grilling yesterday, it counts as somewhat of a patriotic post. Johnson is still recovering from shoulder surgery May, so hopefully he took it easy on the holiday and is healing quickly.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled free agency content.
