The Dallas Stars defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2 in the Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl. The Predators scored twice in the first eight minutes of the game, both on the power play, but the Stars came back with four unanswered goals to win. They scored once in the second period, and netted another three (two on the power play) in the third period.
The Colorado Avalanche will host the Stars in Denver on Jan. 14 and will visit Nashville in late February.
2021 Classic Heads to Twin Cities
The Minnesota Wild will host the 2021 Winter Classic at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. This information has been official for less than 24 hours, but the Colorado Avalanche are already rumored to be a potential opponent. It’s not likely they will be chosen because they are playing in a Stadium Series game next month and will also be a part of the NHL Global Series in Finland this fall.
Time is ticking. The Last Man In vote for the NHL All-Star game is open until Jan. 10. Cale Makar is a candidate, and needs all the votes he can get. Each person can vote 10 times per day at NHL.com/Vote or in the NHL App.
Landy at the Rose Bowl
Gabriel Landeskog is the namesake for more than one famous animal now. After Erik Johnson’s horse Landeskog raced this summer, a pig named “Gabriel Landes‘hog’” raced at the Winter Classic as the color Blue. No word on who won, but it’s a lucky name.
