Day two of the long winter is upon us. Meanwhile the Colorado Avalanche are enjoying fun and sun until February 1st.

The memory of Nathan MacKinnon’s last game in which he scored to mark his third consecutive 30 goal season will keep us warm.

Speaking of warm thoughts, it’s expected the announcement of Florida hosting the all-star game in 2021 will occur during this weekend’s event in St. Louis.

For subscribers to the Athletic, as always fun responses to a poll of nearly 400 NHL players.

The Edmonton Oilers announced the return of the rookie showcase in Penticton, BC. The interesting part of this is the reveal of the date of rookie camps over the weekend of September 11th which then can extrapolate to main training camps on September 18th and place the start of the season around October 7th. Start your travel plans now!

Just because the Avalanche are away doesn’t mean all hockey is on hiatus. Go support the Colorado Eagles during this weekend’s set of games on Friday and Saturday with the latter being a special Eagles Fight Cancer night with many special events and touches.

Remember Ty Lewis? He’s still scoring in Utah and was named the ECHL player of the week.
