Things have been painfully slow in terms of general hockey news, let alone Avs news. We are in the dry spell of the offseason in November, because 2020 right? The only thing taking over the media has been “election day” which has turned into election week. This has come with several memes, and of course, what’s a meme without Gritty?

It’s even more relevant that Gritty’s hometown of Philadelphia is at the heart and center of this crazy election. This once-in-a-lifetime election has caused stress and anxiety for so many here in the US and around the world. Luckily, the Avs Twitter account is here to save us all:
Based on our post this morning, we have determined that everyone needed this today.#GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/2VCjMaXrux

Who doesn’t love hard-headed hockey players with sweet, adorable puppies?! The Avs are really here to save us all in this crazy time and it is very much appreciated. If only we could just start the 2021 season now and find a way to get Avalanche hockey on any form of ice anywhere, it would be perfect and as close to normal as possible.
Man, I miss Avs hockey. I’m sure plenty of you all reading this do as well.
In any other year not named 2020, the season would be in full swing. The boys would have played for about a month now with a handful of games, with hopefully, a handful of wins in the bag as well. While 2020 has caused the regular season to be pushed back until at least January 1st of 2021, we can reminisce right?
For this first writing and following ones to come, I’ll be going over some of those sweet traditions and memories made when we could be at full attendance games at the arena formerly-known as the Pepsi Center.
I spend way too much time on YouTube. While I have to watch some YouTube lecture videos for the majority of my college classes, I will easily get distracted and watch other things on the platform as well, and anything Avs related falls into this category. On the days where I’m missing Avs hockey a little extra than usual, there’s usually multiple videos to immerse myself into the good old times of full crowds and Avs hockey in person. Here’s an example of one of the videos that I’ll watch and highly recommend others to watch who miss Avs hockey too:
The opening day bout between the Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche in the 2019/20 season seems like decades ago. Hopes were high for the Avs season and push for the greatest trophy in sports. The atmosphere displayed by the ice video crew and fans was outstanding, for those there and watching it on TV (I was so hyped watching in my dorm room last year). All of the lights and the loud, pumped-up music, brought it all together and helped the Avs prevail to a 5-3 win over the Flames on Opening Night.
Have any great traditions you want to be featured? Have any videos from when we could all attend games? Send them our way and it could be featured in future pieces!
