With the 2021 season still in limbo, we are still unsure whether there will be NHL hockey played this season or if there will be no season until normality somewhat returns in Fall 2021. Even though there is no NHL hockey for now, we can reminisce on one Avs game from this day back in 2018.
The Avs were in the middle of a three game road trip to the Penguins, Panthers and Lightning. The Avs played the Panthers in the middle of the three game trip and played a wonderful game. The Avs started with a goal 10 minutes in from a tip-in from Mikko Rantanen before the Panthers tied it late in the first.
In the second period, now former Av Carl Soderberg scored a wonky shorthanded goal 5:44 into the period from a high shot off of Roberto Luongo. However, Florida answered once again with a power-play goal during the same penalty a mere 30 seconds after the Soderberg goal. Once again, the teams were tied entering the third.
After the start of the third, it was all Avs as they exploded with two goals in less than a minute to make it 4-2. The first goal came from a JT Compher tip in front of Luongo, and the second goal from Matt Nieto after getting knocked down in the crease. The Avs managed to hang on and tack on an empty netter from Gabe Landeskog to win 5-2 and take the only two points from that road trip thanks to a great team effort, especially a great goaltending effort from Philipp Grubauer. You can check out the highlights below:
Back to the present day now. The hockey that is playing right now does include the WJC’s (hopefully, if no more COVID outbreaks occur like on Team Canada) and it includes some sweet skates for each countryman:

Each country will get their own custom skates with their country’s flag and represent their country at the WJC tournament come Christmas time. All that we know is that we can’t wait for Bowen Byram and Alex Newhook to skate in those Bauer skates and represent Canada strongly and proudly.
Newhook’s college club Boston College was in session without the exciting prospect last night versus Providence and absolutely destroyed them 9-0. This game was no contest, being 2-0 after the first, 5-0 after the second, and ended with four more to end 9-0. While Newhook wasn’t present for this game, he could’ve tacked on even more points to the score sheet with some goal(s) or assist(s).

We have to give some love to former Avs defender Tyson Barrie as well, as it was just recently announced that he and his fiance Emma put a ring on it!
Congrats to Tyson & Emma on the announcement of their engagement!

We'd also be remiss if we didn't acknowledge very good boy Ralph. pic.twitter.com/Fe7a1J5zQ6
The former beloved defender for the Avs tied the knot and gave us another reason to gaze our eyes on their pretty pup Ralph, even if Barrie is barefoot in a forest for some reason.
While scrolling through NHL’s Twitter account, an interesting question from them was presented to tweeters across the platform and got people’s minds turning:
If you could play for any team other than your favorite, which would you choose?

Who would you all play for besides the Avs? I personally have no clue what I’d answer. Let us know in the comments who you’d play for, oughta be interesting to say the least!
Anyways, happy Sunday to all of you! Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
