Ball Arena announced Wednesday afternoon that it will be requiring proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event. These new requirements are intended for everyone over the ages of 12 to attend Colorado Avalanche games or any other event in the arena.

This new requirement goes into effect starting November 10th, and will be checked for the first Avs game the next night against the Vancouver Canucks on November 11th. Along with documentation of vaccination or a negative test, verification will come in the form of ID checked at the gate as well. This requirement will go into place for fans, staff, and team personnel.
The verification process will take place outside the arena before entering the event by staff, encouraging fans to come early to get in. However, with the new requirements, it is still Ball Arena policy for everyone 2 years or older to wear a mask at all times except while eating and drinking.
“After consultation with local, state and federal government and health authorities along with the guidance of the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL), National Lacrosse League (NLL) and in consultation with national concert promoters and entertainment providers, the decision to institute these protocols for all events reinforces KSE’s continued commitment to ensure that the health, safety and wellness of our fans, frontline workers, staff, performers and athletes is our top priority,” Matt Hutchings, EVP and CEO said in a press release.
While it was questioned by some why this policy wasn’t implemented at the beginning of the season, it is better late than never for this policy to be implemented to some. Of course, in times of conflict over such a matter as this now, everyone is allowed to have their different thoughts and opinions over the new requirements and make of it as you will.
