The 2020-21 season is almost officially over — and one of the last orders of business before the 2021-22 season preparations kick into high gear is the presentation of the remaining NHL awards, which are set to be announced at 5:30 MT tonight on NBCSN.

While none of the Colorado Avalanche nominees are expected to take home their respective trophies, it is an honor and testament to the season they had to have Philipp Grubauer nominated for the Vezina, Cale Makar nominated for the Norris, and Nathan MacKinnon nominated for the Hart.

Who do you think has the best chance to win — or at least get the most votes?

Just prior to kicking off the Stanley Cup Finals, the league also made some announcements on dates and times regarding the Expansion Draft, NHL Entry Draft, and headline events for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

The league’s 32nd franchise is making preparations to for a few of their impending new Seattle Kraken prospects and depth players. It was announced on Monday that the Charlotte Checkers will serve as their AHL affiliate for one season, before the team relocates their prospects to the expansion team that is projected to head to Palm Springs in 2022-23.

Game One of the Stanley Cup Final was a fairly lopsided affair, with the Tampa Bay Lightning taking the first game at home with a 5-1 final decision. The contest was a bit closer than that in reality, as Montreal cut Tampa’s lead to 2-1 heading into the third period — but Tampa showed why they are the favorites by limiting Montreal’s chances to 28 shots on goal, all while capitalizing on their own 26 shots throughout the three periods. Game Two will stay in the Sunshine State on Wednesday night, before the series heads north of the border for games three and four.
