Before heading out east for a three-game road trip the Colorado Avalanche received some welcome news in that netminder Alexandar Georgiev has been named the second star of the week. His shutout performance against the Chicago Blackhawks certainly worked in his favor along with the overall strong start he has enjoyed to begin the season.

An informative update on the meaning behind each Avalanche sweater number choice from The Athletic. It’s fun especially when players hold their number through multiple teams.

Tonight the NHL will experiment with a Red Zone type broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPN+ featuring all 32 teams with staggered start times beginning at 4 p.m. MT. The Avalanche-Islanders game at 6 p.m. MT will kick off the “Frozen Frenzy” action as the program flips between all the live games.

The NHL is also experimenting with the long anticipated release of their player tracking statistics. Some interesting data to dig through is there.
