The NHL recently released the Colorado Avalanche’s 31-in-31 profile, previewing the season and the expectations for the high-flying squad. If you’d like to view the entire video, you can find it here:
There was high praise and expectations for the Avalanche, with both Dan Rosen and Mike Johnson thinking the Avs would finish top of the Western Conference. If the Avs finished at the top of the Western Conference, it would be a dream for all of us, and the first time we’d finish top of the conference since the 2013-14 magical season with Patrick Roy at the helm.
If there was any time to be an Avs fan, now is the time. With a healthy squad, we all know the possibilities are endless for this team. Back in 2013-14, with a young Nathan Mackinnon and Gabe Landeskog, things were looking up. As they’ve matured through the hard times and brought in reinforcements like Mikko Rantanen and Nazem Kadri, we would not be surprised and are hopeful that the NHL’s 31-in-31 predictions comes true for Avs fans come playoff season.
Late Saturday night, Hockey Night in Canada tweeted that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was still set on the NHL season starting January 1st, playing a full 82-game season, playing in front of fans:
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has said the league hopes to return Jan. 1 and wants to play a full 82-game season with fans in arenas

While the article in the tweet itself is about a vaccine trying to bring fans back, it shows how much optimism still exists within the higher-ups of getting a full, late-start season started in a little more than a month. Whether or not this optimism is false or real, time will tell. Teams would need to get camps started soon to be prepared for a full, 82-game season. The opening of camps could be another issue within itself, more to come on that later this week in another article.
The rumors of the Avs getting a new third jersey along with their home, away, and retros continue to grow louder and louder as the days pass. While people think that it may go along with the blue gloves and pants Nathan Mackinnon and Mikko Rantanen leaked a while back, it may not be as simple as that. According to an inside source of the Avs on Instagram, these concepts have been revealed as possible front-runners replacing the current third jerseys:
These don’t look too much different from the current third jerseys, with the “C” logo or the Stadium Series logo from February. Instead of the deep blue like the current third jersey and in these concepts, it could be closer to the blue of the gloves and pants revealed earlier. These are nowhere near confirmed that these are what the jerseys would look like, but nonetheless it seems likely a change in the third jerseys in the future is coming. Let us know in the comments what you think of them and give @avsinsider a follow on Instagram for more inside details like this!
Finally, the NHL asked yesterday on Twitter people’s favorite Stanley Cup moment of all-time and there’s only one correct answer to this question for Avs fans:
