The Avs visit Edmonton to take on the Oilers and try to put a little more distance between them and Chicago in the Standings.

Well, the last loss was a little disappointing, but we got a point out of it, so we should all be grateful. Even so, I would very much like to win this one.

Tonight the Avs face Taylor Hall and the Oilers. Hall was named first NHL Star for the last week, with 9 points in 4 games. He and his linemates Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins have been extraordinarily effective of late, so we are going to have to really watch out for them. The Oil themselves have only won 4 of their last 10 and sit staunchly in last place with 65 points, but that top line sure is shining.

So far this season, we have split the only two games we have played with Edmonton. We lost the first time, an embarrassing affair in which we were downed 2-8. But we won in the second match 4-2, so we've got that going for us. That Hall kid did kinda well in both meetings, with a hattrick and a total of 6 points. The closest thing we have to an Oil Killer this season is Matt Duchene with 4 points, but... yeah. So lets just keep on point and keep pushing.

We still hold a game in hand over Chicago, and neither they nor St. Louis played last night, so we still have chances to extend our lead for home ice advantage. I'm personally not holding my breath to catch The Blues, but anything can happen. Chicago is off tonight, but St. Louis faces the Washington Capitals an hour and a half before our game starts, so we should keep an eye on that score.

I haven't yet seen any info about the lineup for tomorrow; Will Cody McLeod be back into the lineup? When is Parenteau going to be well enough to get some ice time before the playoffs? JS Giguere is slated to start between the pipes for us, but I haven't heard anything else. I guess we'll just have to see what happens. I won't bother to guess the lines, considering how much I've seen them mixed up mid-game over the last week; lets all speculate on them once we hear who our scratches will be for the day!

Puck drops at 7:30pm MT, 9:30pm ET at Rexall Place.

Go Avs!!
